Answer #2 There is no possible way for us to answer this. Health insurance (if you are not able to get in ona group insurance plan through work) is based onprevious health history. You should NEVER LIE onthese. Because we don't know your wife's healthbackground, we can't give you an answer. ALLcompanies charge based on history, sex, andsmoking.www.ehealthinsurance.comYou seem to notreally know a lot about this subject, so you aregoing to want to get someone to help youunderstand what all the termanology is so that youdon't make a costly mistake. If you are married, most every employer will allow you to add bothyour wife and your dependant (your child). Thiswill be at a MUCH lower cost than buying somethingseperate. If you are NOT married, many stateshave rights for opposite sex domestic partners ontheir insurance plans. If YOU are working, go toyour HR department and speak with your "BenifitsCoordinator" to ask all the questions you need toask. They are there to help! - answered by One Sailors Lady
Answer #3 Yea it sucks how our health-care system hasn'tcaught up yet. It makes me furious. Anyhow, I'veheard Blue Cross/Blue Shield is good and I believeit's the most inexpensive. I had Cigna for awhile and that was good. Health-Net is prettygood only if you don't have any pre-existingconditions otherwise they really raise thepremium. Look into Eatna as well. I've heardthere a little more pricier in comparison to theothers but I've also heard that they seem to covermore. - answered by slavebunney
Answer #4 Hello, Unfortunately this is not a quick answer. There are some things to consider:If buyinginsurance in the the private insurance marketthere are many different types of plans. Thereare several questions that you will want to askbefore selecting a plan:1) Will I need my wife'splan to cover maternity for future babies? Someplans cover maternity, some do not. 2) How muchpremium can I afford to pay every month?3) Ifsomething major should happen to my wife, whatwould be the maximum that I could afford to pay.(This will help determine the deductible of theplan that you'll pick)There are wesbites availablethat will allow you to look at plans from severalcarriers (Blue Cross vs. Health Net vs. Aetna, etc) and compare benefits and premiums. A sitelike this could be helpful in your research. Thetypical rule of thumb will be that the highermonthly premium you pay for a plan, the better or"richer" the benefits will be. That is a tradeoff that applies accross all carriers for the mostpart. Have you wife think about how much she usedher health plan in a "typical" year. (i.e., nonmaternity year) This can help you pick a planthat will not having you paying for services youdon't need, but will provide the coverage that youand your wife want.
