Question : Is online stock trading accounted for in the social security statement?
I sometimes dabble in online stock trading from my home.I was wondering if the earnings an be accounted for in the security earnings at the end of the year?Is it true?"

All Answers: Answer #1 no. not unless you are a stock brokerage company.Ihave had several clients to have tried to makethere stock trade self employment,But the IRSregulations won't allow it,they are always treatedas capital gain and do not count towards yoursocial security - answered by leonard s
Answer #2 No.Only earned income is counted towards SSbenefits.I know, you earned the trading profit,but that's the way the IRS defines it.If youdeclare yourself as a fulltime stock trader, thenyes, you may. BUT - you have to pay both theemployer & employee portions of Social securitytax, PLUS medicare tax.Unless you are a verysuccessful trader, you probably don't make enoughto justify claiming your trading profit as earnedincome. - answered by InspectorBudget
