I have a living trust for my house, can I put my checking account in there to protect it also?

No, trust are for static frozen assets andrequire procedures to acquire or dispose (spend)

Absolutely you can (ignore the other answerer). Just bring a copy of your trust to your bank, andthey will take care of it. The account will beheld in the name of "[you], trustee of the[whatever] trust dated [date]." My in-laws have aliving trust with their checking account (amongother assets) in it.
