Question : Are there any credit repair companies that are legit?
I want to fix my credit fast, because my husband and I want to buy a new house in about 6 months. There a lost of credit repair companies out there. They say that they can remove bad hits on your credit report. Has this worked for anyone? If so, which company? How much did you have to pay them? How much did your credit score increase? How long did it take? Thanks a bunch!

Free ones do help. If you have to pay a fee,forget it! If they help you budget your money,good. If they want you to turn over everything tothem so they can pay for you , forget it!! Sixmonths is not long enough to repair your creditanywhere. It takes at least a good year of payingon time to change a score. Sorry but no fastanswer. It took you time to mess up, will taketime to fix! Good Luck!

You can get a copy of your credit report atAnnualCreditReport.com and dispute any errors withthe credit bureaus. If there are legitimatenegative items, you will just have to wait the7-1/2 years for them to fall off your creditreport.Companies that promise to repair yourcredit will only take their fees up front and dovery little for you. There is no magic way toremove legit bad marks.You can improve your scoreyourself by paying off credit card balances. Abig part of your score is the ratio of revolvingdebt to available limit. Any balance over 30% ofyour limit hurts your score.If you have negativeson your credit report, contact the creditors,newest one first and work backwards. Negotiatesettlement. The older the debt, the more likelyyou can settle for less than the balance. Lumpsum gets the best offers. Any payment plan shouldbe short term. Get any settlement offer inwriting and don't give them access to your bankaccount.If you plan on buying a house, themortgage company will insist that all negatives besettled. You may need longer than 6 months toclean up your credit. You also will need a nicedownpayment.
