check out all three credit reports for free atannualcreditreport.com.look for errors, and idtheft. figure out a statement for investigatorsto check out. Credit cards aren't really good forcredit repair. what you want are records fromloans, and utility company credit to show that youare able to manage your money. As for creditcards, apply for one at your bank or credit union,in combo with your atm. once your start makingprogress, you'll get raises on the credit limit. That's when you'll know things are working out. It's the only legit way.as for the site above- ithas your report from TransUnion, Experian, andwell you'll find out. It was setup as part of afed mandate. The most important document a USresident has, as the inofrmation on it will helpsomeone else determine if you get the job youapply for, rent the house or apt, get a phone orelectric account, and so on. almost as insidiousas being investigated and watched by the CIA.Butpeople get errors placed on the file all the time, but never seem to look at their own file to seewhat's right and what's not.

Apply for a card at your bank. You're more likelyto get approved (perhaps with a very low limit ifyour credit's bad) since you have an accountthere.Otherwise try one of the big Sub-Primecredit card issuers. The biggest one I know isCapital One. The other largest issuers are allPrime (Chase, Citi, Bank of Am).
