Question : What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies to go with?
I am recently out of the military and need to purchase an individual health ins policy. However, I am not sure which ones are the best. I am a student, do they offer any good student policies? Also, is the SGLI to VGLI conversion a good change to make? If not, which is better term or whole life insurance policies?

You will not get a good answer concerning thehealth insurance here because companies and theplans within the companies vary by state. You'llwant to visit a local independent agent who knowsthe market in your area and can find the best planfor your situation. Do not try to do this on theinternet unless you have the time it will take tocompare nearly 1000 plans. The agent can figurethe best plan in an hour or two and they don'tcharge anything for the service. The independentagent also can help with the life insurance.Generally speaking, the term policy is best formost people.

OK, you're talking different horses here. Forhealth insurance, what is best? Lowest monthlypremium? Least out of pocket costs when you visitthe doctor? In either case, if you don't want thestudent plan (major medical with massivedeductibles, but low premium) you should go see alocal, independent agent for a real healthinsurance policy, not one of those medicaldiscount scams. For life insurance, what's theGOAL? Most people are best off with term - lowestpremiums for the highest coverage. A FEW peoplehave goals best met with whole life insurance. The key is, SET THE GOAL FIRST, then find theproduct that fits the need at the lowest cost. And if you buy both through a local agent, youwon't get scammed.
