Question : How do you prove Identity Fraud to all 3 Credit Reporting Agencies?
There are a couple of things on my credit report that say I owe someone for rent in 2003 in another state that I didn't live in at the time. The collection agency has my social # but say that I have to prove that I was not living there. Now there is suspicious address being reported on one of my Credit Reports as my Current Address. How do I go about fixing this? And is it hard?

call equifax, transunion, and the other creditcompany and tell them as if they see living in 1state they will know what is going. Those creditbureau's have a history of your entire backgroundfrom your employment, to where you worked and whatcredit cards you have. They can look that up andsee that you didn't live anywhere else. Also askfor a free credit report from transunion. Send acopy of that to the collection agency and it willshow them your entire history. Just follow thesteps I gave you and it should work out.

Answer #3
One way of proving you werent living there is comeup with proof of residence that says otherwise. For instance if you are renting have that personwrite you something noterized stating that youhave lived there at such n such place for thisamount of time. Also, attendance records from yourjob so you can say i lived here and went to workhere... how could i possibly be over there? If youreally didnt do anything.. the law is structuredwhere you can prove you were defrauded. You mayalso have to file a police report at some timestaing that your indentity was used in a illmanner. Best of luck to you...

Go to the police and file a police report or getan identity theft affadavit from the federal tradecommission website. Make copies and forward themto the credit reporting agencies. Include yourdisputes, and make note that the address reportingis the fraudulent one. The companies will blockthe fraudulent accounts and the fraud address fromyour credit file.
