Question : Is it legal to charge a NSF fee for an error in account number in an online bill pay account?
While setting up an online bill pay account and error was made in the account number. Now the company wants to charge a NSF fee because they couldn't verify the account. Is this legal?

As the error was 100% your fault,you were probably shown at least one review screenand given the opportunity to verify it, thecompany has the right to charge the fee. If thisis a company that you have done business with fora while and you are normally a customer in goodstanding, just call them and ask if they willreverse the charge because you made a mistake.
